NPC libraries are open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the community residing within the boundaries of the college district, Navajo, and Apache counties.
Students, faculty, and staff may obtain library cards. The NPC identification cards are printed at any NPC campus and center front office and will also serve as their library card. Community members over the age of 18 may obtain a library card upon presentation of an Arizona picture ID card that shows they are a permanent resident of Navajo or Apache County. Community members between 15-17 years of age must have valid AZ identification or School ID and a parent or guardian accompany them to obtain a library card. The parent or guardian must have a current NPC library card and must sign the application of the dependent. Borrowing privileges are not given to community members under the age of 15.
All library users must have a library card to borrow materials. Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out and any fines that may occur. Patrons are responsible to notify the library of address and phone changes. The library is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail. Report lost or stolen library cards to library staff. Library records are confidential. All users are expected to abide by the policies and procedures of NPC libraries. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the privilege to use the library.
The loan period for books and audio materials is twenty-one days, video materials and periodicals are seven days. All items may be renewed twice either in person, by phone, by email, or by logging onto their account in the NPC library card catalog. Items will not be renewed if they have reached the renewal limit or if fines exceed $5. NPC reserves the right to restrict the use of materials if there is a high demand for specific items. Faculty may request a one semester extended loan period for print materials.
A cumulative total of twenty-five items can be checked out at any given time by NPC students, faculty, and staff. A cumulative total of five video titles can be checked out at any given time. Community members may have five items checked out at one time.
Equipment check-out varies (i.e. individual and loan period). Please check with library staff. Reserve materials are course-related items placed on Reserve by faculty for the exclusive use of NPC students enrolled in a specific course. Loan periods vary and some must be used only in the library. Inquire at the Circulation Counter/Front Desk in the library.
A hold can be placed on items that are already checked out. The requestor will be notified when the materials are available. The item(s) will be held for ten business days after which they will be returned to the collection.
Replacement cost will be charged for lost items or items not returned.
When an item has been damaged, a $2.00 fee will be charged to make repairs. If the item cannot be repaired, the replacement cost of the item will be charged.
Any borrower who fails to return library material in a timely manner (within 30 days of the due date) will be charged a replacement fee plus a non-refundable $5.00 service charge per item. Overdue items may result in inability to check out further items. Items over thirty days late may result in inability to obtain transcripts and register for classes.
Any borrower who fails to pay their library fees over $100 within two years will be turned over to collections.
