Information literacy is the set of knowledge, skills and abilities that enables students to identify and articulate their information needs, and to effectively locate, evaluate and integrate information in order to fulfill their needs in an academically responsible way.
Information-literate students are equipped with the knowledge and ability to identify and locate quality information that will help them succeed in all their research assignments and gain confidence in their own abilities to excel. This knowledge, ability and confidence forms a solid foundation on which to build an exciting and productive future of lifelong learning.
We enthusiastically encourage all faculty to help promote greater information literacy and greater academic success by arranging information literacy instruction from the library for your students. Don’t hesitate to let us help you develop a learning activity or assignment that will challenge your students to become more information literate, better prepared to succeed in their academic pursuits, and more likely to embrace lifelong learning.
Simply fill out and submit an Information Literacy Request Form at least five days prior to the desired session. We’ll contact you to finalize all the arrangements.
